There’s a new blog post from Andrew Gelman, who was cited in the last chapter Regression Discontinuity. The whole blog post is worth a read but one line in particular stands out
Statistical analysis and causal inference are related but are not the same thing.
Its a great reminder that as we’re studying these topics the two topics get conflated often, but its important to keep them separated. In the regression discontinuity chapter we saw why that was, and having not read the rest of the chapters yet I wonder if we’ll see the same again
